Synchronicity or Coincidence?

I want to share with you today something that happens to me on a relatively frequent basis. It’s called synchronicity and thanks to psychiatrist Carl Jung, we have a word for those events that are too coincidental to be coincidence.

The definition of Synchronicity is: an experience of two or more events which occur in a meaningful manner, but which are causally un-related. In order to be 'synchronistic', the events must be related to one another temporally, and the chance that they would occur together by random chance must be very small.

Some people keep seeing the same numbers, like 11:11, or 2:22 - you could call those synchronicities.

So here’s an experience I had recently.

My husband and I belong to a book club. We recently read Living Beyond Fear: Sacred Letters from the Afterlife by Beth Mund and Berit Stover. They are mediums who channel letters from people who have passed on. One of the letters was from believe it or not, Freddie Mercury of the musical group Queen. It was so beautiful and profound, that I wanted to read a part of it at a radio interview that I was going to be doing within the next couple of days after I read it. So in the spirit of the book (pun intended) I decided to ask Freddie for a sign if he thought it was a good idea to do this. So the next day I’m checking out the radio station’s website and just happen to click on the link to listen online, and the dj is in the middle of introducing the next song, and I can’t believe my ears because it’s Freddie Mercury singing his signature song, Love of my Life. Totally blew me away. What are the odds????

Coincidence? You tell me!
